How can you see the Bay of Halong Bay in the most pleasant and luxurious way? Let me tell you about a different way to see the most famous place in Vietnam while cruising at five star level and without feeling more surrounded by tourists from all over the world.
Ha Long Bay is a bay where there are thousands of 50-200 meter high karst islands rising straight out of the sea and covered with lush green vegetation, its largest island being a pole, and the main departure point for cruises and cruises in the bay. The origin of the name is “the place where the dragon sunk” in memory of a dragon who protected Vietnam from a Chinese invasion and fired fire and jade stones into islands (another legend says that a French soldier saw a dragon in the sky).
Because this place is so well-traveled, almost all tourists visiting the country come here. But what if I told you that there is another spectacular bay that allows you to see the islands of the Long Bay site in Vietnam, but without being in an excessive tourist load of cruise boats? Get to know Lan ha bay, the leisurely way to see Long Bay without having any ships in front of you. The cruise will pass anyway in front of Long Bay’s magical bays and the scenery will be just as spectacular, just at night the ship will dock in another bay with far fewer tourists in your area.
So what does Cruz have? Just to explain to you I wrote the following post.
Peony Cruise - five stars Cruise in Lan ha Bay
After two weeks of intensive eastbound hiking (in Burma, then a bit in Hanoi), I was definitely looking for an option for a high-level rest, so I took a night cruise in the Long Bay area.
The rooms are luxurious, the food is excellent and the staff gave service at any given moment. Peony has two new and identical cruise ships, with one of them usually cruising one night and the other for two nights.
Each ship has thirty rooms, a dining room, three seating areas with armchairs and tanning beds, which include a cocktail bar. In the lobby, you can always find an alert representative at reception who is available to help whenever you need. A small boat is always also attached to the ship for transit purposes.
Each room has a personal balcony, shower and sea view bathroom (it’s a real experience to shower like this, just make sure there is no ship in front), air conditioner, wifi, mini bar and safe. The room was comfortable and fun although I still preferred to lie in the tanning bed on the top floor of the ship and stare at the amazing view.
We arrived at the Cruise by organized transport from Hanoi, straight to the port of Catba city. All Cruise participants waited in an area designed for Peony Cruise customers and another company, where an agile registration process was done. At exactly 12 o’clock the Cruise Manager arrived to pick us up, we boarded the ferry and within a few minutes we reached the ship. At the time of the reception, the suitcases were already transferred to the rooms. 24 hours of entertainment begin!
Kayaking between the islands
The first activity we went out after lunch was kayaking between the islands. We received a plastic bag from the crew to keep the items wet (you can’t separate from the cellphone) and went out for an hour to get as close as we could to these special islands.
Juma into the water
It was in the area of the kayaks that the seawater was relatively dirty and dirty, but after returning to the boat and moving away from the filthy area the crew pulled out towels for us and offered to leap into the warm water at sunset.
Hoa Cuong Cave
On the morning of the second day we sailed to Catba, the largest island of the most inhabited Ha Long Bay area. After a short bus ride inside the Catba jungles, we reached a cave with stalactites called Hoa Cuong Cave where we wandered for about half an hour.
There are also some monkeys in the area that are exclusively for polar, but we did not encounter them (perhaps because of the rain that caught us). In the three-day cruises, there is also more time to ride a bike in this beautiful area and increase the chances of seeing the monkeys.
How do you order Cruise to Lan Ha Bay
Most cruises can be ordered directly through the Cruises website or simply at booking.com. There are many types of cruises and if you want something specific I recommend booking in advance to secure your spot. I arrived at this cruise following a booking invitation I received from the Asiatica Agency and really enjoyed being a guest here 🙂
