Ein Aviel – Easy track with water in central Israel

Five minutes from Binyamina, Israel, hides a wet and beautiful corner full of green reeds, where mount Carmel ends and Taninim (the meaning of the name is Alligators, but there aren’t any) river begins. Generally, most of Israel’s water springs exist in the northern part of the country and require two hours to drive to Golan heights or Galilee Panhandle. The uniqueness of the spring in this post is its just 45 min drive from Tel Aviv. The place was super cute, though slightly overloaded with people.,
Ein Aviel is located very close to Aviel, which is near Binyamina and Amikam. Take a look at Waze “Ein Aviel”. About five minutes drive from Binyamina and after driving on an unpaved road you will reach the bridge across the stream, next to the entrance gate “agricultural area” and marking green paths. We parked here and walked 950 meters to the pools, about a fifteen minute walk very easy. By Friday afternoon, the gate was closed and only SUVs could drive the lane anyway.
There are two main pools where you can actually swim, and around them are a few nice corners to stop for a picnic (although the shade is relatively small). In the first pool you can wade under a huge willow tree and even swing or climb the tree. In the second and largest pool you can swim and it is perfect for small children because parts of it are shallow. There is also a shaded resting position, a spot to jump to a deep spot and you can hike in the creek until the thicket begins. I recommend getting sandals or something that fits the water rather than flip-flops, because the bottom is slippery.
A few minutes walk from the large pool, the secret waterfall of Taninim river and Ein Aviel is hidden. It is a small fall, but it is very cute and hides among the reeds. To find the waterfall, continue on the unpaved road and look for a blue pipe with green path marking, the waterfall will be about fifty meter later.
